Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit Course
Length: 8 hrs. Cost: $60 Course Objectives: 1. To allow students to carry concealed weapons after successfully completing an 8-hour course of instruction. 2. To inform students of the responsibility of firearms safety, use of deadly force, maintenance of firearms, proper mental conditioning, marksmanship and judgmental shooting situations, as required by law. 3. To display knowledge and proficiency of deadly force issues by passing an approved written test with a minimum score of 100 percent at the conclusion of the class. This requires a score of at least 70 percent on the initial test. Initial test scores below 70 percent fail the class. 4. To display shooting proficiency by firing a minimum of ten rounds of live ammunition (as defined by applicable administrative rules) for qualification and achieving a score of at least 70 percent.
Fingerprinting is included in the course fee. By AZ DPS rules, all fingerprinting, paperwork, and other administrative tasks must take place outside of actual class time. Due to this, plan to be there for longer than eight hours. Courses are scheduled for nine hours to allow for this.

Basic Course Information
There are certain basics that apply to all courses, and all students should be aware of these things prior to attending any course with CSDT:
- Show up early for check-in. The start time listed for the course is the time the course actually begins. Check-in will take place prior to this time. If you show up after the start time, you’re late.
- You should have all needed equipment with you (e.g. a firearm, holster or case, factory ammunition, eye and ear protection, etc.) and it should be in good working order. Equipment that fails you in class will fail you in the world too, and it also delays the class for your fellow students.
- There is an old saying, “The first rule of a gunfight is to have a gun.” If there is a second rule, it would be “Have a gun you can shoot accurately.” The same rules apply to class. There is no point in bringing a gun to class that you can’t shoot accurately. We can help you with the mechanics of shooting, but only you can bring a gun you can handle.
- Please do not bring loaded firearms into any training area. Keep all firearms unloaded until an instructor tells you otherwise.
- You should arrive at class with a clear head and a positive attitude. Please get a good night’s sleep, and do not take any drugs that may affect your balance, coordination, or alertness, including prescription drugs. If you can’t think straight, you won’t shoot straight.
